The Lion’s Mane began long before its doors opened in 2020

It started in 2016, when Larry and Elise met while working at the same barbershop. Larry was just starting his barbering journey, eager to learn and develop his craft. Elise was already an experienced barber, cutting hair since 2007, known for her attention to detail and strong work ethic. What began as a shared passion for barbering grew into a partnership in both life and business.

They married in 2018, and soon after began dreaming of building a barbershop that reflected their values: quality over quantity, education, inclusivity, and a standard of care that went far beyond a haircut.

In October 2020, in the middle of a global pandemic and while raising a young family, they brought that vision to the Beacon Hill community opening The Lion’s Mane Barbershop. Despite the uncertainty of the world, the community showed up for them. Clients became like family, and what started as a two-chair dream quickly grew into one of Ottawa’s strongest and most talented barbering teams.

Today, The Lion’s Mane stands as a reflection of everything Larry and Elise have poured into it:

skill, passion, community, and the belief that every person deserves to feel their best.

Their journey continues as they raise their children in the same area their shop serves, creating a legacy built not only on great barbering, but on genuine human connection.
